Bella Skye - Jewellery Tutor
Previous Qualifications & Training:
Highly qualified in jewellery spotting.
Like a psychic is drawn to spirits, so I am drawn to the smell of freshly sparkled Swarovski, the subtle glow of amber, and the sparkly sheen of silver.
Self-taught – When I first wanted to make sweetie jewellery, I looked everywhere for classes, but couldn’t find any for this specifically, so I trained myself through the Internet and books.
My formal jewellery training has come from the London Jewellery School’s extensive and colourful courses.
How did you get involved in making jewellery?:
Like LJS’ founder Jessica Rose, I became mesmerized by the handmade wonders at a Christmas Crafts fair. While there, I met a lady who mentioned the versatile nature of polymer clay, and that’s what got me started on working with such an amazing material.
Things I have done:
Before making jewellery I was a professional procrastinator.
And for a while I was a happily reclusive dog walker.
And when I discovered jewellery everything made sense, like falling in love.
Jewellery wise: I taught myself to design, make and then sell my jewellery pieces to chic boutiques in some of London’s most famous hotspots.
My biggest achievement so far:
Sticking up for and saving the pigeon with the broken wing as these kids were kicking it.
Making my dog happy.
Things I hope to achieve in the future:
Complete understanding and empathy for all humans and living thing
More beautiful jewellery pieces, because they make my heart sing.
Three words that describe me are:
Surprising, warm, colourful
I am inspired by:
Expressionism and colour
My Favourite Jeweller is:
That’s like asking a kid to pick their favourite candy!
Bill Skinner, Thomas Sabo, and everybody at the London Jewellery School!
