On this one day introduction to leather working, students will be taught about, and get to feel different types of leather and suede and they will also learn about some of the treatments that they undergo.
This will include a brief history of the processes used in tanning hides.
Participants will learn how to use different leather working tools and gain an understanding of construction techniques in order to create their own leather cuff. They will do this by planning a design, creating templates, cutting, scoring and bevelling the leather, which they will then be able to glue and stitch together.
As well as this, they will be adding studding, hardware and fittings to their newly created pieces.
Other techniques learnt will include finishing, buffing, polishing and creating waxed thread for stitching.
The day runs from 10am -5pm.
