Beginner's Hat and Fascinator Making

In this course we will be exploring basic millinery techniques that will enable you to create fascinators and cocktail hats.
We will be using traditional techniques to make modern fascinators and explore how to use specialist materials to make one-of-a-kind hats. This course is suitable for brides-to-be, Ascot attendees and people looking to gain insight into the fascinating world of millinery.
Techniques covered in this class include;
-Creating a hat base from sinamay
-Working with sinamay to create loops and bows
-Creating trims from feathers, fabrics and specialist millinery materials
-Working with hat elastic, combs and headbands
At the end of the day you will have a beautiful fascinator or cocktail hat to take home!
What you need to bring to this class:
All materials will be supplied. Pictures of hats or fascinators for inspiration can be brought along on the day as well as colour swatches if you wish to match your hat to a particular outfit.
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 8.
We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.
