How I got involved in making jewellery:
I’ve always had and interest in vintage jewellery and started collecting costume jewellery, trinkets, beads and old coins 10 years ago. I studied fine art printmaking at the Kent Institute and got my first jewellery manufacturing job with Hackney based designer, assembling chunky charm bracelets and necklaces. This inspired me to create my own collection using some the nick nacks I had collected over the years.
Things I have done:
Made jewellery for Paloma Faith and Shingai Shoniwa (Noisettes). . I have sold my work internationally and been involved in several exhibitions in the UK and Germany.
Things I do now:
Commissioned jewellery in silver and gold, run my own label selling acrylic jewellery and prints and I’m also the only UK stockist of enamel Fulani tribal earrings. When i'm not making jewellery I spend my time creating illustrations inspired by west African fabrics.
My biggest achievement so far:
Being my own boss!
Things I hope to achieve in the future:
I hope to expand my brand into textiles and interiors.
Three words that describe me are:
Resourceful, impulsive and fun
I am inspired by:
Pop Art, Dutch wax print fabric and Art Deco design.
