All about the Bling, Bling!
Tired of seeing the same old jewellery in the shops that everyone has. Can never quite find what you want at prices that you can afford?
There is an easier way. Learn to make your own jewellery- it’s easier than you think. It is a huge trend that is taking the UK by storm and more and more people are taking jewellery making up as a fun, creative and rewarding hobby and some even as a new career path.
Whether it be beading, silver jewellery, glass pieces or wire wrapping there are plenty of things you can make in just a few hours in the comfort of your own home.
A great way to kick-start this hobby is by taking a class to get the basics down. There are lots of places offering jewellery making classes but one of our favourites is London Jewellery School based in the heart of London’s Jewellery Quarter, Hatton Garden. As well as the convenience of being very central, they have over 50 different classes to choose from and welcome absolute beginners (so don’t be scared to have a go). They have over 16 world class tutors and with class prices starting from just £35 there really is no excuse not to give it a go!
We caught up with Jessica van Zanten, the Director of London Jewellery School who is passionate about the rewards of making jewellery as a hobby ‘The great thing about a jewellery class, is not only is it fun, relaxing and creative but you also get to take something lovely and sparkly home with you. It truly is heaven!’
And if that’s not enough to convince you then next time you are in your local jewellers, take a look at the price and in these pressing times you may just find a new craft could turn out to be money saving as well as relaxing.
