Make a Pair of Drop Bead Earrings
Make these beautifully simple citrine drop bead earrings, the perfect addition to any outfit...
You will need:
2 x large Citrine beads
2 x gold plated headpins
Small length of thin gold plated chain
2 gold plated earhooks
Chain nosed pliers
Round nosed pliers
To start with take one of your gold plated headpins and thread on a citrine bead. Repeat this so that you have two headpins with a bead on each.
Next, thread the last link on the end of your chain on to the headpin as shown in the image.
Take your round nosed pliers, lift up the headpin and using a finger or thumb push the end of the headpin up and over the round nosed pliers to make a loop. Ensure that your chain remains next to the pliers in this step so that it doesn't fall off.
Now take the end of the headpin and wrap it under to make a full loop in the wire. Make sure that the chain is trapped inside the loop at this stage.
Hold the piece with your round nosed pliers in the loop you have just created and take your chain nosed pliers in the other hand. Use the chain nosed pliers to wrap the wire around the base of the loop 2-3 times to secure it in shape.
Once you have finished your wrapping you can cut off any excess wire with your side cutters as close as you can to the base of the wire. Then use your chain nosed pliers to tuck the sharpe end of wire into the main body of the wire wrap you have just created.
Now you are ready to cut your chain. I would recommend completing steps 2-6 again now to make the other side to your pair of earrings and then cut the chain together at this stage to ensure it is the same size on each earring.
Finally take your earhooks, slightly open the attaching loop on them using your round nosed pliers, then thread on the end of your chain and close the loop using your round nosed pliers so that they are secured in place. Now you should have your finished drop bead earrings ready to wear.
