Make a Rosy Red Valentines Bracelet
Roses are Red and Valentines is fast approaching so why not make your loved one a simple but beautiful rosy red elastic bracelet? All you need are some beads, elastic and ribbon then follow our step-by-step instructions below...
You will need:
Selection of red and pink beads
40cm of red or maroon coloured ribbon
Pair of scissors
Reel of 1mm elastic nylon cord
Super glue or Araldite (optional)
You should be able to find all of these at your local craft shop.
Please note: make sure the holes inside your bead are large enough to fit over the 1mm thick elastic cord.
Cut two lengths of the elastic cord using your scissors. Be sure to make them at least double the length required for the finished bracelet so that you have plenty of room to work (you can always make it shorter later).
Thread your beads on to each cord. You can do this in a pattern if you like but i have just gone for random, based on the colour theme using; reds, pinks and small silver beads.
Thread both strands of elastic with enough beads to make the finished desired length of the bracelet. If you are making it for yourself just measure on your wrist the correct length. If it is a surprise present for someone you will either need to borrow one of their current bracelets or take a tape measure to their wrist when they are sleeping!!!
Once all your beads are on take both strands and tie them together in a four layered knot (that's four knots on top of each other) don't worry if the knot looks a little messy, it will be covered by ribbon soon. Test that your knots are strong enough by stretching the elastic, if it come loose then re-knot.
Once your knots are secure cut of any excess elastic cord. Then take approx 12cm of your chosen ribbon and tie a bow covering the knot you have just made to secure the bracelet. If you want the bows to be extra secure you can add a dab of super glue or Araldite to the middle of the bow and wait till dry.
Repeat this process of attaching a bow at two other points on the bracelet to divide it in to thirds.
And there you have a professionally made, beautiful, rosy-red bracelet all ready to give this valentines day, and you will certainly get extra brownie points for effort!
