Resin Jewellery (2 Days)
Please note this course runs for 2 consecutive days. Take a look above to see examples of what can be made on this class. These images are of students and tutors work.
This is a great class where you have 2 days to experiment with this fantastic material: resin.
You will have a chance to make a whole range of pieces including, rings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants, earrings etc.. almost anything you can think of. Resin is a fantastic material to work with particularly in this current climate, as it is very affordable and so versatile.
Like Perspex resin is a form of plastic. However while Perspex comes in thin solid sheets, resin comes in a liquid form. This can be poured into moulds to make bangles, rings and more. You can also add colour to the resin and include other materials within it for example gold leaf and beads.
Techniques that will be covered include:
Mixing resins from scratch
Adding colour and tinting
Designing pieces to make in resin
Adding insertions such as glitter, feathers, charms, and other objects
Sanding, polishing and buffing to give a professional finish
Making finished pieces of jewellery
Resin is a great way of adding colour to your jewellery work including metal clay pieces, silver, gold and copper pieces as well as just creating solid resin pieces. At the moment resin is very popular. You can find it all over the high street being used in a variety of fashion jewellery.
The types of resin we use in this class are non-toxic but if you have allergies or if you are pregnant you will have the option to wear a mask when polishing which we will provide.
This class is always very popular and places are limited so do book early to avoid disappointment.
Please note: this class runs for two consecutive days.
What you need to bring to this class:
For this class you don't need to bring anything but yourself as everything is provided. However, it is a good idea to think about what you would like to make and bring any ideas you have; pictures, sketches or pieces you like. Don't worry if you don't have a project in mind as we have plenty of inspiration around our workshop too!
As with all of our classes, all materials are included in the cost of the class as well as plenty of tea, coffee and luxury biscuits! The classes are all run by expert tutors with years of professional experience who are friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. The size of the classes is kept small to allow plenty of one-on-one attention and the maximum number of students for this class is 7.
We take an hour break for lunch and there are plenty of local shops to get food from, or you can always bring a packed lunch to eat in the studio. If you have any questions regarding this, or other courses please don't hesitate to get in touch.

'Can't wait to get started working in resin at home, it was much easier to work with than I thought it would be and we really bonded as a group. It was such fun' -Lesley Jones
'I looked all over for a class like this, most of the other ones are just for small pieces but it was good to cover mould making for making our own shapes and making solid resin pieces. I made a bangle and necklace, which I love. The tutor was great and had lots of hints and tips. I am sure I will be back for another class at the school soon x' -Margert O'neil
