Make your own Silver Findings
Learning to craft your own findings such as ear wires, clasps, and brooch pins allows you to truly customise your designs and add a truly handcrafted and bespoke element to your work. Your designs will no longer be limited by the commercial findings that are available and learning how to make your own findings will save you time and money and will ensure your jewellery stands out from the crowd.
Projects covered will include: earrings (earring hooks and also soldered posts), clasps (a T-bar or Toggle clasp and an S-clasp), a brooch pin and making your own jump rings.
PLEASE NOTE: We recommend that all students complete the soldering masterclass before taking this class or that you are confident working with the torch. As this is an advanced silver class and we recommend that students are familiar with silver jewellery making and are comfortable using hand tools in a workshop environment.
What you will learn on the class:
How to create and form earwires using sterling silver wire and pliers
How to create and solder ear pins onto earrings
Designing bespoke clasps taking into consideration scale and size
How to create your own jump rings
Different types of basic brooch fittings
Polishing and finishing your findings to a professional finish.
Students will produce a small selection of findings to use in their own designs.
