· · · Comments

One of the largest jewellery training centres in the world, the London Jewellery School has launched an online version of the school where anyone can learn to make professional quality jewellery from home. London Jewellery School Online  is part of a the LJS family of services and products which includes; face-to-face classes at the school, online video-based courses and kits containing all the tools and materials you need for your home jewellery workshop.

There are five courses taught by world-class jewellers – Julia Rai, Hayley Kruger, Linda Jones, Rosie Sanders and the founder of LJS Jessica Rose – offering everything from beading and fashion jewellery through to metal clay and silversmithing. A future six courses are in development covering areas including wax carving, stone setting and jewellery business skills.

‘Focus is on community, learning and very clear, detailed break-downs of each stage of the making process’ says Jessica. ‘We are lucky in London to have access to incredible talent in the form of jewellers who are willing and able to share their skills and knowledge. With the online school we hope to be able to offer far more people across the world options to learn, make and share their jewellery.’

London Jewellery School Online is a rebranding of ‘Jewelry From Home’ set up by LJS in 2014. The move to online learning stemmed from an on-going demand from students for distance learning options for the 80+ different jewellery making courses on offer at LJS. Since then LJS has also started a collaboration with equipment supplier JewelTool and launched a pop-up jewellery supplies shop allowing the school to better support its community of developing jewellers.

The move to develop online learning is part of a mission behind the jewellery school to provide options for ‘everyone to make jewellery’ opening up access to education for people all over the world.
