cariad

Over the past few weeks we’ve been asking you to share photographs of your Valentine’s Day inspired jewellery. There’s been a tremenduous response and you can see all the entries here.

There were lots of interesting ideas about the meaning of different gemstones and what “love” makes you think about.

It was a difficult choice but in the end we have chosen Menna Lloyd’snecklace of lapis lazuli and silver with gold overlay. It is part of her ‘Cariad” collection.

Cariad is the Welsh word for love and  she chose lapis because in ancient times some believed that dreaming of lapis would foretell love that would be forever faithful.

You can find more about Menna – a former Diploma in Creative Jewellery student – on her facebook page.

Look out for a new jewellery making competition very soon.
