Have you ever wondered how to make silver jewellery with fingerprints on?
Fingerprint jewellery is a way of capturing the fingerprint of your loved ones onto a silver piece which can then be worn as a necklace, bracelet, keyring, cufflinks and much more. It is a lovely process to make pieces for friends and family as well as a great business avenue for anyone looking to start or grow a jewellery business.
We will be covering a range of techniques in the course including:
- How to create moulds to capture the fingerprints with great detail
- Working with metal clay
- How to hand engrave and stamp names, dates or messages into the clay
- Setting birthstones into your fingerprint pieces
- Polishing and finishing for a professional finish
- Using patinas to bring out the definition in the prints
- Information on hallmarking and legal requirements for selling your work
- Plus plenty of useful hints and tips on sourcing supplies and setting up your own making space at home
By the end of the day, you should have all the knowledge you need to set up your own professional fingerprint jewellery workshop at home
What will you be making?
On the day we usually work through three projects designed to cover all areas of fingerprint jewellery making; a silver charm, a pendant and a keyring, each will be unique and using different techniques designed to offer you full training in the variety of areas you can use in your fingerprint jewellery making.
Who will you be learning from?
One of our lovely, talented tutor team! All classes are taught by professional jewellers with years of experience. your tutor for this course will be experienced in making metal clay and fingerprint jewellery. The class size is small to allow plenty of one-to-one time with the tutor for you to learn at a quicker pace. This is not a franchise but it will provide you with all the practical information you need to set up your own fingerprint jewellery business, or simply to have a go and make some fingerprint jewellery for friends and family.
Who should take this course?
Everyone is invited and welcome to come on this course and we would love to have you. However, we do recommend taking the 1-day Beginners Metal Clay course first so that you have the basics covered and can get the most out of the experience.
